3 Thoughts.

  1. Is there a way to get to the church that you are rebuilding in Kilninian from the ferry on Mull? I’ll be there-God willing-June 4 or 5.

    Thank you

    • Christ is risen!
I am so sorry for how slow I am in replying, dear Ms Perry. Theoretically, there is a way to get to Kilninian by public transport (see below), but I think it may be easier to simply rent a car for a day. There are a few rental companies on Mull, which you can easily find online.
By public transport, you should take the bus from Craignure (the village where the ferry from Oban takes you) towards Tobermory. You only have to get to Salen (which is between Craignure and Tobermory). Once in Salen, there is a Community mini-bus that goes between Salen and Calgary Bay – to get to Calgary Bay, the van has to pass by Kilninian, so you can ask the driver to stop in front of the Church.
The schedule for the mini-bus and information about how to book it (it is by request only, it only operates in the summer and needs to be booked in advance) are all available at this link:
I know it sounds complicated – that is so simply because it IS complicated. I do hope this helps bit though. Let me know how things go. I shall be on Mull for two weeks in June for our first pilgrimages (the schedule is available on the website – see the link to ‘pilgrimages’). Perhaps we can meet while you are on the island. I would like that very much.
      All the best, fr s

  2. I walk into the seas embrace
Beneath a lunar shower of light
That skips and scatters upon the waves
    To caress me on passing
    As the sand murmurs secrets
That sift as wheat on a threshing floor
As the water without unites in rhythm with that of within
At its heart burns a fire that would set the ocean ablaze with a mystical flame eternal
At the dawn all is still
Washed ashore from the shipwreck of my life
Beneath a shroud of otters all whiskers and intrigue
